- A Marketing Advantage can be found in the improved appearance of a smooth surface, contour designed lighter weight investment cast part in addition to a reduced selling price made possible by lower production cost. Compare the surface finishes, and also the large reduction in machining and tooling costs of the investment casting to a sand cast casting. Some difference!
- Requires A Minimum Amount of Machining...in critical areas. Often requires no machining and may be used as cast. Tolerances of ±.003 in./in. to ±.005 in./in. in investment casting eliminates most secondary operations. Cast holes are close enough to permit reaming or tapping without jigging. PART NUMBER and OTHER IDENTIFICATION SYMBOLS do not have to be stamped since they can be cast.
- Reduces Assembly Costs...to permit a one-piece casting to replace multipiece, assembled or welded components. A tremendous advantage in economy and quantity is achieved in one-piece cast parts which often are superior to similar components fabricated from several pieces, welded, soldered, riveted, brazed or bolted together. Superior mechanically, lower in cost, and better looking.
- Wide Design Flexibility...offers the designer greater freedom in developing a functional part without restrictions of conventional manufacturing methods. Complex internal and external shapes and undercuts.
- Saves Time...when a single investment casting is used as a replacement for several parts. Saves time for designing parts for drawing, processing blue prints, directions for assembly when needed for numerous parts of an assembly. Saves time for customer's purchasing department by buying single piece castings from one source rather than having to buy several materials from numerous sources.
